Alyeska Resort

About 30-40 minutes outside of Anchorage lies a gem in the mountains, otherwise known as Alyeska Resort. It offers a variety of activities in any season and the views that boast along the Turnagain Arm are simply breath taking. There's never been another resort that I've been to that simply sings there is beauty all around. While in the warmer months you can take the Tramway up to the top, or if your adventurous enough, you can make the grueling up hill hike an have a complementary free ride down. At the top of the Tramway you will find two restaurants and other multiple hikes that will make you fall in love with the area. Alyeska Resort also has downhill mountain biking as well as a spa, and comfy place to stay. There are bears, moose, and other types of wildlife that surround the area.

And if you are visiting the area in the wintertime, Alyeska is probably the most sought out ski resort in Alaska. Hit the infamous slopes and you'll surely have the time of your life.

Here are several pictures of the area and of course if you have any questions or additional information feel free to hit the comments.

Views, views, views...

There was still snow at the top.

And a pretty lake.

Here comes the Tram!

Gorgeous and peaceful area.

  1. Hi Kristin! My husband and I are planning a trip to this great state at the end of May. What are some major pointers? What type of shoes do you recommend? Any good resources?
    Thanks,
    Alicia

    1. Hi Alicia,
That's wonderful that you are going there and I'll give you as much information and tips as I can. After living there I got to know a lot about the culture and got to know a lot of knowledge from the locals as well. What part of Alaska are you planning on going to? Since you are going at the end of May it will still be snowy and a little cold, so I would advise to dress warmly. Also if you are doing anything outdoors I would also advise to be prepared as that's normally the time that the bears will be coming out of hibernation and are pretty grumpy and aggressive as well. Let me know what else I can help you with and I will be coming up with a variety of things to do while your there.
      Sincerely,
      Kirstin
